Caleño

Chanteur

Colombia

Born in Paris and originally from Cali, Colombia, Caleño takes his name from the city known as the world capital of salsa. That heritage shaped his musical foundation — not as nostalgia, but as rhythm and identity. Seeking to understand Latin music at its roots, he lived and traveled between Spain, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico and New York. In Spanish Harlem, he shared the stage with salsa legends and became lead singer of the Steven Oquendo Big Band, performing weekly in the Bronx — a formative chapter grounded in Afro-Caribbean tradition and live performance. Today, Caleño moves beyond revivalism. His voice now inhabits the codes of contemporary Latin music — reggaeton, latin trap and urbano — while traces of salsa culture remain embedded in the rhythmic architecture of his sound. Following his 2025 reinterpretation a salsa classic El Preso - in collaboration with legend Fruko y Sus Tesos, DJ/producer Zapapaya and iconic record label Discos Fuentes - and performances in Paris and Colombia, Caleño is preparing a new wave of singles and his debut EP — a universe where the percussive roots of his origins meet modern urban club energy.
